KARACHI – The government of Sindh has barred the purchase of new vehicles for civil servants performing their duties in Karachi.
The decision was made during a meeting of the cabinet on Saturday in which it was agreed upon that the ban would continue for a period of three years.
During the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah expressed that he was desirous of formulating a new policy for the civil servants who were keen to acquire cars.
He expressed that the civil servant of grade-17 should be handed over a vehicle acquired through a lease for which he should pay the installments from his own pocket and after completion of total payment, the possession of car should be permanently handed over to the officer.
Let it be known that the federal government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan is already pursuing a policy of austerity and has auctioned dozens of vehicles owned by the PM House.
Moreover, multiple buffaloes were also auctioned in a bid open to public.
