MUMBAI – Due to the on going stand-off between arch-rival India and Pakistan, the stunning actress Mahira Khan has been replaced in Shahrukh Khan’s movie Raees.
“The Bollywood film is due for release on the Republic Day weekend”, DNA reported on Monday.
The action was taken after a ban on Pakistani actors in India was called on by many extremist parties while Pakistani cinemas also decided to stop screening of Bollywood films nationwide.
“It was a very painful decision for producer Ritesh Sidhwani to take. The pressure to replace her had been building up for months”, the report added.
“Cooker ki saat seeti Baj chuki hai, aag dena bandh kar” (not a line from Raees, I has better dialogues)

A source revealed to the leading daily saying, “it reached a crescendo after the Uri attacks. It came to a point where it became impossible to shoot with any Pakistani. People suggested all kinds of solutions to the impasse, including shooting in Dubai. But it didn’t seem viable. Now, Mahira has unfortunately been relieved of her duties”.
The source further added, “The Raees team needs to find a new girl in two weeks’ time.”
The heart-throbbing Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s scenes were also omitted from Sushant Singh Rajput’s ‘M.S.Dhoni: The Untold Story’ in order to avoid controversies.
