Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and a hailstorm struck several areas of Karachi on Wednesday, creating an unexpected weather shift. Dark clouds covered the skies over Malir, leading to sudden downpours, while other areas like Gulshan-e-Hadeed and Shah Faisal Colony also witnessed scattered rainfall and gusty winds.
In Gulistan-e-Johar, particularly Block 1, residents were surprised by a brief but intense hailstorm. Steel Town, Gulshan-e-Maymar, and Port Qasim were similarly affected, with rain and high winds sweeping through the neighborhoods.
Around Jinnah International Airport and nearby areas, dust-laden winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour reduced visibility and contributed to the stormy conditions.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz attributed the rain and hail to the formation of clouds triggered by the day’s heat. He added that the weather system is expected to impact other northern and northeastern parts of the city within the next half hour, bringing more rain to those areas.
