RAWALPINDI – A civilian was martyred by unprovoked firing of Indian border forces along the Line of Control (LoC) on Monday.
“In continuation of the violation of ceasefire understanding, Indian army resorted to unprovoked firing and targeted civilian population in Khanjar sector of LoC today,” the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said.
A civilian identified as Guftar Hussain, 51, resident of village Jhamra, embraced martyrdom due to unprovoked mortar shelling of Indian troops, ISPR added.
Pakistan Army posts retaliated effectively and engaged enemy posts involved in unprovoked fire on innocent civilian population, ISPR further said.
Indian forces frequently conduct cross-border violations along with Working Boundary as well as in Kashmir across the Line of Control, resulting in the deaths of innocent civilians, contrary to international norms.
Pakistan has been constantly engaged with New Delhi over devising a mechanism to avoid casualties.
