ISLAMABAD – Seven Pakistani fishermen, who remained in a jail ib Yemen for around a decade, have been returned home to their families on Friday.
The released fishermen were held by Yemeni authorities around 10 years ago from Karachi and Balochistan coastline for crossing international water boundaries. The authorities after taking them into customs put them behind the bars in Yemen’s capital Sana’a.
Tireless efforts made by the Ministry of Foreign affairs and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), played an important role to reunite them with their families.
Emotional scenes were observed, when they were received at the Islamabad airport by their loving families, whom they could not meet over this 10-year period.
Foreign office and ICRC representatives were also present at the airport to welcome them.
