“I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger as a reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn’t impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.”
― Anais Nin
D’ART FEST was the actual rendition of these words. It was lyrical, musical, inspirational and marvelous. There were no boundaries to creativity and this amalgam of expressional art made it extraordinary. To be there was to be in the presence of dancing stars and you could feel the potential you have inside – such was the magic of this night.
This Fest was organized by Mint PR and Mint Concepts and brought influencers from the creative arts and other walks of life together, at the expo center on Sunday, to celebrate the ‘Street Art Culture’. The boundaries to creativity were challenged and to create an experience beyond ordinary fashion was merged with arts and music – the result was absolutely breathtaking. The night saw who is who of entertainment and fashion industry coming together to celebrate and applaud the work of 25 renowned local and international artists from various creative fields.
From the field of fashion, ace designers Fahad Hussyn and Warda Saleem stunned the audience with their creations. Fahad Hussyn displayed pieces from his art couture series Nightmentia. According to him:
“Nightmentua is a series of art couture forms based on the vision of street art as a medium of spreading awareness. We as a nation have a lot on unaddressed issues especially depression and anxiety. The works included are born out of that in hopes to reach to other people to seek help and spread awareness. It [work] illustrates not to be scared of what’s inside you and give other people around confidence that it’s okay to talk about it.”
While Fahad Hussyn used the platform to raise awareness about depression, Warda Saleem was all about women empowerment. She showcased her collection Aurat Raaj. The collection pays homage to the iconic women of Pakistan who have created history and made us proud over the decades. Her work incorporated Street Art design medium through exclusive prints and pain on experimental silhouettes.
Apart from this brilliant Fashion x Art display, the Street Art Pop-Up Museum at the event displayed life-size murals by 12 renowned artists. Each of these artists had put their heart into the creation and results were beyond a lay man’s imagination.
Tapu Javeri stunned the audience with his pieces which were a combination of his artistic and aesthetic sensibility.
Further along, there was an exhilarating performance by the renowned international stomp groups “The Stomp Drummers Crazy Orchestra” and “Parkour Group”.
All the artworks displayed at the fest were inspirational and magical. The experimenting with various forms of art created a magic that mesmerized the audience. We really hope this fest becomes an annual thing and we get to see creativity at its peak over and over again.
