Dubai to use automatic face recognition technology at two airports

DUBAI – The Emirate of Dubai will apply automatic face recognition technology at its two international airports, to replace passport control in 2018, according to the The National Emirates website.

In the near future, passengers will pass in front of nearly 80 cameras in a tunnel that will capture their faces.

That tunnel will show images of an aquarium that will attract the attention of the users, thus facilitating better observation of the faces.

The technology will be first used in 2018 at the terminal of Emirates airlines.

The automation of border control will lead to an increased flow of passengers at Dubai’s two international airports.
