Pakistan considers expanding railway trade with Afghanistan, Iran

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Commerce Minister Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan has said that Pakistan is interested in laying modern rail tracks and refurbishing existing routes for direct and transit trade with Afghanistan and Iran.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad, the minister said the government considers rail tracks as trade corridors because these help boost Pakistani exports and facilitate transit trade.

Delegations comprising businessmen from South Africa were also present in the meeting.

The Commerce Minister said the government is deeply interested in an integrated locomotive service for boosting trade with neighboring countries.
