KARACHI – A major oil spill occurred in the Defence area of Karachi after a pipeline belonging to the National Refinery leaked, causing oil to flow onto nearby streets and alleys.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, Darakhshan Police immediately arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area, blocking all access. Local authorities were also informed, and additional police personnel have been deployed to secure the vicinity.
SHO Darakhshan, Irfan Asif, confirmed that the leakage occurred near Khayaban-e-Seher Street 25, stemming from the central point of the National Oil Refinery’s pipeline. The oil supply through the pipeline has since been halted.
A technical team from the National Oil Refinery is expected to visit the site in the morning for a detailed inspection. As a precautionary measure, fire tenders and support staff have also been stationed at the location to ensure safety.
