LAHORE- The Lahore High Court (LHC) has accepted an application for hearing seeking ineligibility of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Justice Ayesha A Malik will hear the case tomorrow (Wednesday).
Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Ijaz Chaudhary had submitted an application against the eligibility of the Punjab Chief Minister. He took the stance that Shahbaz Sharif was still running a business despite holding a supreme seat in provincial assembly, which was a violation of Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution of Pakistan.
Both these articles prohibit elected members of the assembly from participating in any business ventures while serving in the assembly. The application points out that Shahbaz Sharif stands in violation of the constitution by running his own business.
