70.5m SIM cards verified so far, 11m blocked: PTA

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – In the first two phases of biometric verification of SIMs, about 70.5 million SIM cards out of a total of 136 million have been verified against 54 million computerised national identity cards while at least 11 million SIMs have been blocked so far.

 

The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority and cellular companies on Saturday expressed satisfaction over the process and said the process might be completed before the deadline of April 12. PTA chief Ismail Shah said there would be no extension, so the remaining subscribers need to have their SIMs verified.
