SRINAGAR – A senior officer of the Indian Occupied Kashmir Armed Police was suspended for allegedly leaking information about deployment of security forces to a Pakistani intelligence officer posing as an Army officer, Indian media reported.
Inspector Tanveer Ahmad was reportedly fooled into divulging information on deployment of security forces in various parts of the disputed area with an intelligence officer posing as ‘Major Sanjeev’.
According to DNA India, intelligence agencies immediately informed the police higher-ups, who swung into action and found that the caller was from Pakistan. “This is a sensitive issue because the call came from Pakistan. How was the officer not able to track the call?” said an officer.
According to a senior officer, preliminary investigation showed that Ahmad’s involvement was “unintentional”.
