Indian Journalist Barkha Dutt Meets Nawaz Sharif And Maryam Nawaz In Lahore

Indian journalist Barkha Dutt recently met with Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter, Maryam Nawaz, in Lahore, in what appears to be a significant interaction amid the region’s ongoing political developments.

According to Express News, Dutt’s visit comes as Pakistan is preparing to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. The meeting between Barkha Dutt and the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) took place in the backdrop of SCO preparations, with international media representatives arriving in Pakistan to cover the event.

The SCO summit is anticipated to bring various foreign delegations to Pakistan, including high-profile political figures and diplomats. Earlier, it was announced that Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar would also visit Pakistan to attend the summit. However, Jaishankar had previously ruled out the possibility of any bilateral talks with Pakistani leaders, stating that while media attention might be high due to the nature of Indo-Pak relations, the summit will remain a multilateral platform focused on regional cooperation.

This meeting between Barkha Dutt and Nawaz Sharif is noteworthy, considering the longstanding tensions between India and Pakistan. The discussions that took place remain private, but they have sparked interest in media circles about potential implications for regional diplomacy.

As Pakistan gears up for the high-stakes SCO summit, the presence of media figures like Dutt underscores the global attention focused on the country’s political landscape. The Chinese Premier also arrived in Islamabad today as part of the summit preparations, further highlighting the importance of the event.
