Another Pia Cabin Crew Member Goes Missing In Canada

Another Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight attendant has reportedly gone missing in Canada, marking the 12th such incident in just one year. The missing crew member, identified as Mohsin Raza, disappeared during a layover in Toronto, raising concerns over the recurring issue of PIA staff failing to return to duty after stopovers abroad.

Raza, who was based in Islamabad, was scheduled to board flight PK 784 from Toronto to Karachi on October 13. However, he failed to report for duty and was found missing from his hotel. Raza had been serving as a steward on the Islamabad-Toronto route and was last seen at the hotel before his scheduled flight.

This incident highlights a growing trend within PIA, where flight attendants, particularly on international routes, have gone missing after layovers. Despite various attempts by the airline to mitigate the issue, including a policy that requires cabin crew members to submit their passports to airline officials while in Canada, the problem persists.

A PIA spokesperson confirmed that an investigation has been launched into Raza’s disappearance. The airline has previously dealt with similar cases, prompting concerns about its internal protocols and the effectiveness of measures meant to prevent such occurrences. The spokesperson added that disciplinary action is being considered.

With 12 crew members having gone missing in a year, PIA faces increasing pressure to address these repeated incidents. The airline’s management is reportedly reviewing its policies to strengthen oversight of cabin crew while they are on international assignments, especially in countries where crew disappearances have become more frequent.
