BEIJING – Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khalid on Thursday hosted a reception for a 100 person Pakistani youth delegation at the embassy in Beijing.
The delegation, comprising youth and athletes from Azad Jammu & Kashmir, FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan is in China on a week-long visit, upon the invitation of the Chinese government. In the delegation, 40 students are those who got medals in respective fields of sports.
The delegation is headed by Syed Junaid Akhlaq, Joint Secretary, National History & Literary Heritage Division.
Welcoming the delegation, the ambassador highlighted the deep-rooted friendship of both countries and the ongoing cooperation under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
Khalid expressed delight and satisfaction by observing a large number of sports women in the delegation. He said that education and sports have prime importance for the country’s progress and soft image.
He informed that around 22,000 Pakistani students are currently studying in China, while Urdu is being taught in nine Chinese Universities as well.
The ambassador said that hard work and commitment of Chinese people and effective planning by their government are the secrets of China’s success, which is second largest economy of the world.
Leader of the delegation thanked the Chinese government for the invitation and the ambassador for hosting the delegation.
After two-day stay in Beijing, Pakistan youth sports delegation will visit Anhui province. The delegation would return to Pakistan on December 20.
