Imran Khan constitutes committee for south Punjab province

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief, Imran Khan has formed a six-member committee to devise a strategy for the establishment of south Punjab province.

The South Punjab Action Committee includes Mir Balakh Sher Mazari (Convener), Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jahangir Khan Tareen, Ishaq Khan Khakwani, Khusro Bakhtiar and Tahir Bashir Cheema; it will submit the report within 100 days.

The committee will look into all necessary aspects and steps required for the creation of a new province and may call subject matter experts as per their need to help in formulating their strategy.

The committee has been formed from amongst Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s lawmakers from South Punjab, who ditched their party and formed Junoobi Punjab Sooba Mahaz (JPSM) under the leadership of Mir Balakh Sher Mazari.

The group then joined Imran Khan-led PTI and in the joint press conference, Imran Khan announced to establish the south Punjab province after assuming power.

Khan had also announced to make South Punjab a separate province in his famous 11 point agenda unfurled at Minar-e-Pakistan rally.
