LAHORE – Punjab capital Lahore saw mass protests of private college students who took to streets against the alleged rape of a student by a security guard.
As the incident made national news and prompted high-level probe, the father of the alleged victim surfaced in a video and clarified the situation. The man, accompanied by Punjab police hero cop ASP Shahrbano Naqvi, addressed the media and clarified that they have nothing to do with the ongoing protests over alleged rape.
The man explained that his daughter only suffered domestic injury at home, resulting in a back sprain that led to her admission to hospital. He expressed his surprise at the protests and emphasized that they have provided the police with medical reports concerning their daughter’s condition.
He urged college students to understand trauma they suffer due to sharing his daughter’s pictures online.
ASP Shahrbano Naqvi also appealed masses not to spread false information that could cause emotional distress to families. She assured that the police would take action and file cases in the event of any such incidents affecting women.
