KARACHI (Web Desk) – Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain, says his party is a liberal and democratic faction that has not any militant wing, local TV channel reported Monday.
MQM chief said in a statement issued from London that MQM believes in nonviolence. It’s a liberal, democratic and progressive thought and believes in equality.
He claimed that MQM has no militant wing. “If a few people from the party, which is elected by millions of people, have taken law into their hands, it’s should be seen as their individual act which has never been party’s policy,” he said, referring to arrest of several party men who were arrested from MQM headquarters, Nine Zero, during Rangers raid last week.
On Wednesday, the paramilitary Rangers raided ‘Nine Zero’ and surrounding areas, seizing a “huge quantity” of weapons and arresting several suspects, including some convicts.
