ISLAMABAD (APP) – Services trade deficit during first seven months (July-January) of current fiscal year 2014-15 witnessed a sharp decrease of 20.01 percent as services exports jumped by 14.06 percent while imports witnessed a nominal increase of 0.54 percent.
According to break up figures, the trade deficit during the period was recorded at $1.461 billion as compared to the deficit of $1.827 billion during same period of last year.
Similarly the exports of services from the country during July-January 2014-15 were recorded at $3.166 billion against the exports of $2.77 billion recorded during same period of last year.
On the other hand, the imports into the country during the period under review were recorded at $4.628 billion against the imports of $4.603 billion during the corresponding period of last year.
On month of month basis, the services trade deficit however, increased by 54.53 percent in January 2015 when compared to the deficit of December 2014, according to the latest data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Based on the figures, the trade deficit during January 2015 was recorded at $283.31 million against the deficit of $183.34 million in December 2014.
On year on year basis, the services trade deficit also decreased by 11.48 percent from $320 million in January 2014 to $283 million in January 2015.
