FC kills 20 militants during search operation in Kalat

QUETTA (Web Desk/Agencies) – At least 20 operatives including nine commanders of outlawed outfits were killed in Kalat raids, officials said Saturday.

“Security forces, engaged in an extensive operation in the rugged territory, neutralized these low and high profile targets in the last 48 hours,” sources told local media.

On top of eliminating these threats, a sizable stash of arms and explosives was also seized by the Frontier Corps personnel.

Earlier, five suspected militants were killed and two others injured in a drone strike in North Waziristan, sources said on Saturday.

Sources said the drone fired two missiles that hit a house in Wara Mandi of tehsil Shawal. As a result, five people were killed and two others sustained injuries.

The identity of those killed and injured could not be ascertained till the filing of this news.

A day earlier, Pakistani air strikes killed at least 17 militants in the country’s restive tribal areas bordering Afghanistan, where Operation Zarb-e-Azb, a major military offensive against the extremist Taliban terrorist is raging on for nearly a year now.

These strikes came two days after the massacre of 45 minority Shiite Ismaili Muslims in Pakistan’s largest city of Karachi claimed by the Islamic State group (IS) and the Taliban’s Jundullah faction which has previously reportedly allied itself to IS.
