PESHAWAR – The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Thursday foiled a terrorist plan to target Peshawar, arresting two suspects and seizing explosives from their possession.
The CTD officials following a tip-off regarding transportation of explosives to capital city of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa carried out a raid near Khazana Road.
During the raid, two suspected terrorists were arrested when they were going to Peshawar carrying explosive devices, including a hand grenade.
The arrested, who have been identified as Sajjad Ali and Fawad, belong to a banned terrorist organisation, the initial investigation revealed.
After confiscating the explosives, the CTD called the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) officials who successfully defused the device.
