ISLAMABAD – Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar addressed Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit calling for cooperation based on mutual respect and sovereign equality among member states.
In his remarks, top Indian diplomat underscored the necessity of upholding territorial integrity and sovereignty in collaborative efforts, asserting that these principles are essential for effective cooperation, and further called for the SCO to engage in honest dialogue, foster trust, and promote good neighborly relations.
SCO’s primary mission of combating terrorism, separatism, and extremism is much needed amid current circumstances, he added.
Jaishankar reaffirmed SCO commitment to its founding charter, and urged member states to be resolute in addressing these pressing issues. He also advocated for SCO to lead the charge in reforming global institutions, particularly stressing the need for a more representative, inclusive, and accountable UN Security Council.
