Suspect who tried to enter Kulsoom Nawaz’s room turns out to be nephew of PTI leader

KARACHI – The man, who attempted to enter the room of a London hospital where Kulsoom Nawaz has been placed on a ventilator, was reportedly identified as a close relative of a Pakitan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader.

The suspect named Dr. Naveed Farooq, who has also been a member of the PTI in the past, is the nephew of PTI’s member from Rawalpindi Chaudhry Asghar, Geo News reported, adding that another uncle of Dr Farooq is also a member of PTI in London.

Farooq was handed over to London police on Saturday after he was held by security at Harley Street Clinic when he tried to enter the intensive care unit (ICU).

The police also recovered videos of the hospital from his mobile phone, while General Medical Council has also been informed about the action of Dr Naveed.

However, the suspect was released by the police after issuing him a warning that he will not come to the hospital again.

Talking to media, the suspect said that he was just trying to visit the ailing Kulsoom Nawaz, adding that he had no bad intentions.

Hussain, a son of Nawaz Sharif, soon after the incident said that the family was already worried and such people were causing more distress.

“This man fooled the security and managed to reach Begum Kulsoom’s room,” Hussain said.
