MUMBAI (Staff Report) – While cricket fans around the globe are all jubilant after Chris Gayle’s extraordinary 100 runs off 48 balls only, West Indies’ coach Phil Simmons has compared the Jamaican cricketer with legendary batsman Sir Viv Richards.
Talking to newsmen after World T20 victory against England, Simmons said that Gayle destroyed the much effective bowling attack of England in such a great way.
“I think he is up there with Sir Viv in the way he tears apart powerful attacks,” he went to say while responding a question.
He added that Sir Viv Richards was the only person in my time who used to destroy an attack this way. I would put him with is Sir Vivian because Sir Vivian used to go out there and destroy attacks like that, he said.
Promising some more exciting Galye innings; the coach said If you think it was a big statement, there is more to come.
In Wednesday’s knock against England, Chric Galyle has hammed 11 sixes and 5 fours complete the much needed century with a strike rate of 208.33 to chase a target of 183 runs.
