Court indicts Khalid Langove, Mushtaq Raisani for mega corruption in Balochistan

QUETTA – An accountability court has indicted Balochistan’s former finance secretary Mushtaq Raisani and former adviser to chief minister Balochistan for finance Mir Khalid Langove on mega corruption charges.

Geo news reported that all the five accused including former secretary local government Abdul Basit, former secretary local board Faisal Jamal, and contractor Suhail Majeed were also found guilty in the case. The court also rejected appeals filed by the counsels for accused persons.

Langove’s frontman Suhail Majeed informed the court that he approached the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for a plea bargain. The court observed that any such documents had not been submitted.

All suspects except Langove attended the hearing. Raisani was unable to be in the courtroom due to his ailment. Judge Abdul Majeed Nasar met the former advisor finance in an ambulance parked in the court’s premises.

It may be mentioned here that law enforcement agencies seized Rs 650 million in cash and jewellery recovered from Raisani’s home in a raid conducted last year. The authorities also presented evidence showing the list of properties owned by the former secretary finance in Defence Housing Authority, Karachi.

The court ordered NAB to ensure attendance of all five individuals in the next hearing, which is March 22.
