Nigerian couple held for heroin smuggling at new Islamabad airport

ISLAMABAD – Airport Security Force (ASF) has foiled a bid of drug smuggling at newly-inaugurated Islamabad airport and arrested two foreign nationals.

The officials intercepted two Nigerians identified as Johnson and Jennifer for checking and recovered 1,446 grams and 360 grams heroin from their luggage respectively.

Both suspects were trying to smuggle the heroin to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, through a flight no. PK233.

The ASF officials, later, handed over both foreign nationals to Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further investigations.

In January, a 21-year-old Czech Republic national woman was apprehended at Lahore airport for allegedly smuggling nine kilogrammes of heroin.

Pakistan Customs officials arrested the woman, identified as Tereza Hluskova, at Allama Iqbal International Airport when she was trying to smuggle the drugs from Lahore to Abu Dhabi.

She is currently in a Pakistani jail on a judicial remand as the smuggling case against her is pending with a trial court in Lahore.
