Huawei rolls out EMUI 9.0 beta for several smartphones

SHENZHEN – Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has officially announced the launch of the EMUI 9.0 (based on Android Pie) beta update.

The list includes six Huawei and three Honor phones; all powered by the Kirin 970 chipset, as the Kirin 980-powered newly launched Mate 20 series already run the EMUI 9.0 out of the box.

Here’s the full list of first-wave phones:

  • Huawei Mate 10
  • Huawei Mate 10 Pro
  • Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design
  • Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design
  • Huawei P20
  • Huawei P20 Pro
  • Honor 10
  • Honor View 10
  • Honor Play

The early adopter list is limited to 5,000 users per phone.

How to update

To join the program, users have to update the Beta Tester application to its latest version 8.0.2.81.

After update, tap Services and then Upgrade Early Adoption. The beta users are required to return some feedback about the new features and design.

Features

The EMUI 9.0 includes GPU Turbo 2.0, Password vault and optimized application launch.

There are also the features Google introduced with the arrival of Android Pie – Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness, Digital Wellbeing (or as Huawei calls it – Android Dashboard) and AI suggestions in the app menu.
