Pakistan Witnesses Third Supermoon Of 2024 Today

KARACHI – Pakistan is set to witness the third supermoon of the running year 2024 today, October 17, as it will be visible after sunset.

Supermoon occurs when distance reduces between earth and moon. The spectacular view will also be visible in New Zealand, Japan, Australia and other countries.

The moon appears larger in size and brighter, offering a spectacular and mesmerising experience to the stargazers

The next supermoon will occure on November 15.

In August, the first supermoon of the current year illuminated the skies of Pakistan as it was visible in Karachi, Quetta, and Lahore.

This ethereal event, known as the “Blue Supermoon,” appeared 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than a typical full moon.

A supermoon occurs when the moon is at its closest point to Earth in its orbit, approximately 363,300 kilometers away. During this time, the moon shines 30% brighter and appears 14% larger, creating a dazzling display in the night sky.
