PM House successfully auctions first vehicle as bidding for ultra-luxury cars begins
ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led federal government has started the first phase of auctioning of 102 vehicles, including bulletproof cars and ultra-luxury vehicles, today as part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s austerity drive.

The expensive cars that have been put up for auction include four recent models of Mercedes Benz, eight bulletproof BMWs, three 5000cc SUVs and two 3000cc SUVs of 2016 model, with first Toyota successfully auctioned in the process.

As many as 24 Mercedes Benz of 2016 model have also been put up for auction. Two of the cars are 4,000cc bullet-proof vehicles; the ministry of interior will issue a permit for handing over the bulletproof cars to the successful bidders.

Further, 40 Toyota cars which include a 2004 Lexus, a 2006 Lexus SUV, and two 2004model Land Cruisers will also be auctioned in a bid to deposit a handsome amount of money in the national exchequer.

Other vehicles to be auctioned include eight Suzuki cars, five Mitsubishi vehicles, nine Hondas and two jeeps. The cars will be sold to those who offer the highest bid that should also exceed the market value.

First Car Auctioned


As the bidding started, the first car that has been auctioned successfully is a 2010 Model Toyota Altis.

The successful bidder offered Rs 11, 20000 (1.12m) for the car.

In his first address to the nation, Prime Minister Imran had asserted cutting government expenditure, promising that he would not live in the palatial PM House.

The 22nd premier had announced that there were 80 vehicles in possession of PM Office, however, he would retain only two of them.

In the first phase, non-imported cars have been put up for auction followed by imported models and then the bulletproof cars.

As part of the austerity drive, Imran Khan has also selected the residence of the military secretary, instead of the PM House. The said residence comprises three bed rooms.

Rupee exchange rate to US Dollar, Euro, Pound, Dirham, and Riyal - 18 April 2024

Pakistani currency continues to gain against US Dollar and other currencies on April 18, 2024. US dollar was being quoted at 277.2 for buying and 280.3 for selling.

Euro comes down to 293 for buying and 296 for selling while British Pound stands at 342.25 for buying, and 345.65 for selling.

UAE Dirham AED was at 75.25 and Saudi Riyal's new rates was at 73.30.
