No survivors as passenger plane carrying 66 people crashes in Iran

TEHRAN – All 66 people on board were killed after an Iranian passenger plane crashed in southern Isfahan province on Sunday after taking off from Tehran airport, reported international media.

Earlier, an Aseman Airlines flight missed in Iran after it went disappeared from radar. The plan was en route to Yasug from Tehran when it has disappeared.

The causes of the accident are yet to be known.

The plane crashed in a mountainous area near the town of Semirom, the news agency ISNA quoted emergency services spokesman Mojtaba Khaledi as saying.

Rescue teams have been sent to the spot to search for survivors.
