OGRA recommends 47 percent increase in gas prices for next fiscal year

ISLAMABAD – The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has recommended up to 47 percent increase gas prices for the fiscal year 2019-2020.

According to a spokesman for the regulator the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) had requested the regulator to hike 144 percent price in gas, whereas Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) sought 30 percent increase.

The spokesman said OGRA has recommended an average of 47 percent hike in SNGPL system and 28 per cent in SSGC system.

He said public hearings were held on requests by the gas supplying companies in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta.

The increase in the gas prices will be implemented after the approval of the federal government.
