KARACHI – Karachi Police on Monday conducted a search operation in the city’s Manghopir area, arresting 7 suspects and taking 47 persons into custody in a bid to get rid of terrorists groups bases in metropolis.
According to Manghopir SHO Ghulam Hussain Korai, the search operation was launched in the area after a tip-off was received of criminal elements being present in the vicinity.
TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) Swat commander Gul Nawab was also collared during the search operation. The suspect was wanted for activities linked to terrorism and for the supply of weapons.
Six more suspects were arrested by police. Moreover, during a door-to-door search, 47 persons were taken into custody by police who were later shifted to police station.
On the other hand, police and Rangers conducted joint operations in Central District Karachi areas Kausar Niazi colony, Shadman Town and Khawaja Ajmer Nagri. The joint search operation was conducted to arrest the suspects of the attack on an Imambargah . However, no suspect was arrested.
The Ministry of Interior has also extended powers of Pakistan Rangers in Karachi for another period of 90 days.
