ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will conclude the scrutiny of nomination papers filed by the candidates for the upcoming polls today (Tuesday).
According to ECP, a total of 21,482 nomination papers have been filed across the country for national and provincial assemblies; at least 6,063 candidates will run the race for 342 seats of the National Assembly, while 15,419 aspirants have filed nomination papers for the seats of the provincial assemblies.
ECP Spokesperson Altaf Khan has clarified that the time for scrutiny of nomination papers will not be extended adding that no such proposal is under consideration.
According to the election schedule, appeals against rejection or acceptance of nomination papers can be filed by June 22 and the decision on the appeals will be made by June 27.

The final list of the candidates will be shared on June 28 and the general elections will be held on July 25th for provincial and national assembly seats.
Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz has been declared fit to contest the elections but Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief, Imran Khan, is awaiting the decision of Returning Officer (RO) to get a clean chit.
Multiple objections were raised against the PTI supremo including the one relating to his alleged love child, Tyrian White; renowned lawyer Babar Awan is representing the politician before the RO.
