KARACHI -The nomination papers of former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf and Fauzia Kasuri, who recently joined Pak Sarzameen Party, were rejected by the concerned returning officer on Tuesday.
The candidacy of the former military ruler was rejected for NA-1 Chitral while Kasuri was barred to contest for NA- 247 Karachi.
Earlier, All Pakistan Muslim League leader Dr. Amjad had said that Musharraf would not take part in the elections but hastened to add that the party would not be boycotting polls.
Last week, the Supreme Court withdrew its conditional approval for Musharraf to file nomination papers after he failed to appear in court.

Regarding PTI dissident Kasuri, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had submitted a report to the ECP stating that she was among the candidates who had dual-nationality.
On the other hand, Fauzia Kasuri took to Twitter and said she had submitted the US citizenship renunciation certificate and required proof to the RO of NA-247.

The nomination papers of former Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sindh Ameer, Asadullah Bhutto were also rejected for NA-242 Karachi.

His papers were rejected on the basis of his name being on the defaulters’ list.
Asadullah Bhutto denied being a defaulter, stating this was an error by the bank. He announced approaching the court against his nomination papers being rejected.
The Returning officer has rejected the nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan as well as former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for NA-53 seat early on the day.
At least 6,063 candidates will contest for the 342 seats of the National Assembly, while 15,419 hopefuls have filed nomination papers for the seats of the provincial assemblies.
The election schedule states that appeals against rejection or acceptance of nomination papers can be filed by June 22. The decision on the appeals will be made by June 27, after which the final list of the candidates will be shared on June 28.
