ISLAMABAD (Online) – The civil and military law enforcing agencies have conducted a joint operation on seaways and recovered smuggled petrol worth over Rs1 billion during the last 18 months.
According to reliable sources, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after assuming the office had directed respective ministries and organisation to take initiatives to stop the smuggling of petrol on border routes.
However, the official documents of finance ministry had disclosed that the during the last 18 months petroleum products worth over Rs1 billion has been seized by the law enforcing agencies.
The documents have pointed out that the initiatives taken by the PML (N) government have proved fruitful and they have caught various bids of smuggling petroleum products.
The customs authorities have also set-up various checkpoints in Gawadar, Karachi and other districts of Baluchistan.
A maritime check post has also been established on seaways of Balochistan to stop the smuggling from Iran.
In order to further improve the coordination joint operations have also been started by the civil and military agencies.
