CJP Nisar heads to UK on dam fund-raising trip

ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar headed to the UK on a week-long trip on Tuesday to raise funds for Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dams.

The top judge will attend fund-raising ceremonies in London, Birmingham and Manchester.

According to the schedule of the CJP’s trip, he will attend an event at Lincoln’s Inn in London on November 21 and the following day, he will attend an event organised by a group called ‘Centre for Policy Dimensions’.

On November 23, the top judge will attend a fund-raising dinner in Manchester; the dinner is being organised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf member and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s close friend Aneel Musarrat.

Moreover, a private media channel would start a live telethon from Manchester asking Pakistani diaspora to donate for the construction of the dams.

Moreover, Imran Khan Lovers UK and Europe has stated that it will be holding an event on the evening of November 25 to raise funds for the dams.

On November 26, the chief justice is scheduled to attend a ceremony of the World Congress and Overseas Pakistanis.

UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industries is also scheduled to host a fund-raising event during the CJP’s visit.

The top judge is actively searching for funds for the construction of dams as experts have warned that Pakistan would dry out after 2025 if adequate measures are not made.

The bank account bearing account No.03-593-299999-001-4 and IBN No. PK06SBPP0035932999990014 was opened after the CJP was briefed about the worsening water crisis in the country which could only be capped by the construction of new dams.

The CJP donated Rs 1 million for the dams fund and asked the countrymen to follow the suite. pakistan’s armed forces have contributed Rs 1 billion for the cause.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has also urged the citizens to actively take part and donate to the fund so that the dams should be built to save future generations.
