No compromise on national security, Sartaj Aziz tells US

WASHINGTON (Web Desk) – Prime Minister’s National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz has said that that Pakistan has been maintaining the stock of its nuclear arms at a minimum deterrence level against its conventional enemy, saying that there will be no compromise on the national security.

“Pakistan’s nuclear facilities exist due to the hazards posed by the neighbouring country,” he said.

Talking to a private TV channel, he said Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state and its nuclear arms in the context of the neighbouring country (India) will not come under discussion with the US.

Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan and US are on the same page on Afghanistan. He said matters pertaining to Afghanistan hold great significance for Pakistan and noted that situation has once again started to deteriorate in Kabul.

He said the aim of Prime Minister’s current tour to the US is to promote ties with Washington.
