Captain Safdar again shifted to hospital after his health deteriorates

ISLAMABAD – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law, Captain (retd) Safdar, on Tuesday shifted to Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) from Adiala Jail after his health deteriorated again.

Media reports said that the former lawmaker was given media attention inside the jail Monday night after he complained of chest pain.

He, now, has been shifted to the hospital where a basic medical examination is being carried out for his treatment, Dunya News reported.

The husband of Maryam Nawaz Sharif is serving his term in the Adiala Jail after his conviction in the Avenfiled properties case by the accountability court. He was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on July 8 and shifted to the jail.

The court had sentenced Nawaz to a total of 11 years in prison and imposed a £8 million fine (Rs1.3 billion) in the corruption reference while his daughter Maryam was sentenced to eight years with a £2 million fine (Rs335 million). However, Captain Safdar was awarded a one-year sentence.

Earlier, Safdar was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad on August 9 after his health deteriorated due to stomach issue and high level of sugar in the blood.
