ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday accepted an application of model Ayyan Ali for preferably hearing a plea seeking lifting ban on her travel.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Saqib Nisar will start hearing of plea from Thursday. Earlier, the apex court had rejected a similar plea by model.
Ayyan Ali also submitted an order of Sindh High Court (SHC) and other documents regarding her inclusion in the investigation pertaining to customs inspector murder case.
In November 2015, the Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling indicted Ayyan for attempting to smuggle more than $500,000 in cash out of the country, to which she has pleaded not guilty.
Ayyan Ali was arrested on March 14 as she waited in a VIP airport lounge of Islamabad airport before her Dubai flight. While Pakistani law bars any passenger from carrying over $10,000, investigators say they found $506,800 concealed into her luggage.
