ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has decided to replace Hamid Khan with senior lawyer Babar Awan to represent the party in Supreme Court regarding Panama papers case.
The decision to hire Babar Awan, a former aide of Asif Ali Zardari came after PTI’s counsel Hamid Khan decided to distance himself from the case owing to media pressure.
PTI’s Information Secretary Naeemul Haq confirmed the decision however, he said that formal announcement in this regard would be made by PTI Chairman Imran Khan, who will return to Pakistan today.
Babar is a seasoned lawyer who remained a part of senate for six long years from 2006 till 2012. He also represented PTI’s Usman Dar against Khawaja Asif regarding rigging allegations in National Assembly Constituency (NA-110) however, Babar lost the case.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has adjourned hearing a slew of Panama papers petitions till November 29.
During the last hearing, the apex court asked PTI to submit tangible evidence regarding the alleged illegal purchase of London flats by the ruling Sharif family.
