NOWSHERA – Maulana Samiul Haq, chief of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-S), has said that a countrywide electoral alliance would be made with the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) instead of Nowshera district only for the upcoming General Elections.
The personal assistant of JUI-S chief, Ahmed Shah, stated that the details of the alliance would be made public after the party’s Majlis-i-Shura meeting in Lahore on Nov 29.
Quoting Maulana Samiul Haq, the spokesperson said that the seats on which the JUI-S candidates would contest in the coming general elections would be announced after the Shura meeting and a final decision regarding union with PTI would be done after the shura meeting.
‘The election manifesto, flag and symbol would be decided later’ declared the official.
To a query regarding the unexpected alliance with Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, he said the two parties had a mutual understanding on all national and international issues, adding that the alliance was being made in the best interest of Pakistan and its people.
In response to a question regarding the probability of revival of the Muttahida Majlis Amal, he responded that there was no possibility.
‘It was now a closed chapter and the JUI-S was going for an electoral alliance with the PTI’ he clarified.
Moreover, Hamidul Haq, elder son of Sami ul Haq and party’s senior vice president, told Dawn by phone that they would field their candidates on those seats which the JUI-S won in previous elections.
‘PTI had agreed to accept the demand of JUI-S and after coming into power the JUI-S would protect Islamic law in parliament’ he noted.
He continued that on the issue of reforms in Madressahs (religious seminaries), JUI-S was already on the same page with the PTI.
