ISLAMABAD – Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif Monday said new leadership of Pakistan Army should carry forward the success and legacy being left by the outgoing Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.
Talking to a local television channel, he said Pakistan Army had been fighting the ongoing war against terrorism successfully, besides restoring peace in the port city Karachi. Completion of these ‘campaigns’ would be responsibility of the new army chief, he added.
‘The Pakistan Army and its chief has to take forward the tradition of success maintained during the last three years of General Raheel Sharif’s tenure as Chief of Army Staff’ the minister said.
He said the institution had earned good will and respect, and its glorious traditions had to be upheld.
The minister said that no other country in the world could claim such success in war against terrorism that had been achieved by the Pakistan Army.
War against terrorism, situation at the Line of Control and Working Boundary and Indian aggression in Pakistan through Afghanistan, would be the main tasks of the new army chief, he said.
