Suspended Rao Anwar cancels press conference, leaves for Dubai

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Former SSP Malir Rao Anwar has left for Dubai cancelling the scheduled press conference here on Thursday.

According to the details, Rao was to address a press conference today revealing details about his suspension but in a hurry it was cancelled as he left for Dubai raising suspicions about his links with PPP leadership.

However, the police officer refuted rumours that he was going to call on senior Peoples Party Leadership. He clarified that he had left for Dubai to meet his children.

He went on to claim that he was assured of justice adding the PPP leadership was currently in London and he had got travel visa for Dubai.

Rao was suspended by Sindh IGP Allah Dino Khawaja on the direction of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah after he arrested MQM lawmaker Khawaja Izharul Hassan without permission of the Sindh Assembly Speaker.

The suspended Rao Anwar moved Sindh High Court seeking reversion of the order of his suspension from the police service.

In the petition, Rao Anwar argued that his move to raid the house of the MQM leader was excercised under the due law. Khawaja Izharul Hassan’s arrest was not a violation of the law, he maintained.
