Great news indeed!
Pakistan’s ‘Academy Selection Committee’ has shortlisted Mah-e-Mir as their official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Award category, according to sources.
The film, which will be a representative of Pakistani cinema at the 89th Academy Awards, stars Fahad Mustafa, Iman Ali, Sanam Saeed and Manzar Sehbai in key roles.
Written by Sarmad Sehbai, Mah-e-Mir is a film set up in contemporary times, showing the life of a lower-class man who experiences love, pain and suffering so closely for the first time.
It also celebrates the powerful poet Mir Taqi Mir, in the lead role’s quest to self-discovery.
In 2013, Zinda Bhaag was selected as the first Pakistani film in over fifty years to be submitted for an Oscar consideration.
It was later followed by Dukhtar and Moor in the years 2014, 2015 respectively.
