ISLAMABAD – Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan postponed a press conference scheduled for 5pm today reportedly owing to medical advice of his doctors.
According to Geo News, Nisar is suffering from back pain, was advised by doctors to rest for at least one more day before holding a press conference.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson has stated that the presser was postponed only because of health reasons and advised media from spreading rumours over it.
Earlier, rumours were afloat that the Nisar is considering to quit the PML-N as media reports said that the interior minister did not attend Friday’s crucial meeting of the PML-N’s parliamentary party headed by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Citing sources, Geo news reported that contrary to popular perception, the presser will not be against the government or the prime minister as the minister is likely to lash out at the role of opposition parties in the Panama Papers affair.
Sources further said that the minister may only resign from his ministry in protest if Defence Minister Khawaja Asif becomes the interim premier in case the prime minister leaves office.
