SHENZHEN – Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has announced its new version of cutomised UI (User Interference) – ColorOS 6.0.
Oppo announced the new OS during an event to celebrate the fifth anniversary of ColorOS.
The new OS is based on a light colour scheme and features a white background with tinted colour gradients to create interference more clear and simple.
A major part of the OS’ look is a new universal front – Oppo Sans – which the company has developed in cooperation with known Chinese typeface firm Hanyi.
There are also performance improvements. OPPO says a new feature called AI application quick freeze which prevents apps from being shut down in the background.
OPPO says the AI system studies the user’s app usage patterns for about 15 days and knows which apps should be frozen or not. With this new feature, OPPO claims overall power consumption should reduce by 7%.
Currently, 250 million devices are running on ColorOS in over 140 countries and regions.
Oppo will release ColorOS 6.0 in 2019 and hasn’t officially shared the list of supported phones just yet.
