Another Dalit teen, accused of pigeon theft, killed in custody of Indian police

NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – While India is still receiving criticism from international community for two Dalit children being burnt alive in Faridabad, another 15-year-old Dalit boy has been killed in police custody in Haryana’s Gohana town.

According to Hindustan Times, the Dalit boy was charged with theft of a pigeon and died as a result of police torture.

Meanwhile the police said the teenager’s body was found at his home in Gohana town in Sonepat district while his family insisted that he died while in custody, there was a mark of torture around his neck.

Responding to allegation SSP Gohana said, “We have registered a case and will add appropriate sections after the post-mortem report comes. As far as his family’s allegations are concerned, we will take appropriate action if any such thing is found true during investigations”.

The report also added that the boy’s family clashed with the police in Gohana on Thursday as they placed his body on the road, protesting and demanding action against the ‘erring cops’.

Heavy police had been deployed in the area to control the situation.
