KARACHI – A Rangers personnel was martyred on Sunday night during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Manghopir area.
The identification of the deceased could not be ascertained so far.
On a tip -off about the presence of the militants in the area, the Rangers conducted a raid. The miscreants tried to escape as the security officials approached the vicinity, Geo TV reported.
Details of the raid were not immediately known. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
There has been no comment on the encounter by the Rangers.
The Pakistan Sindh Rangers have been carrying out an operation against criminal elements in the city for the last three years, which has brought relative peace in Karachi, home to at least 20 million and commercial hub of Pakistan.
