ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator has raised questions regarding allotment of 88 acres of land to former army chief General (retd) Raheel Sharif, demanding to know under which law the procedure was done.
In a session of the Senate on Friday, the outspoken senator raised the issue of allotting the precious land to the former army chief as a ‘post-retirement benefit’ and questioned if all army chief had given such benefit at the time of retirement, Dawn News reported.
After his retirement, Raheel Sharif is currently leading the Saudi-led military alliance.

No answer was given to his repeated questions regarding the legality of the allotment, Babar said, adding that the only answer was that all this had been done in accordance with the Constitution of Pakistan.
He went on to say that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday arrested a bureaucrat in Lahore for allegedly transferring land.
Referring to another action of the NAB, he said that corruption references against retired army generals regarding illegal transfer of land have also been reopened.
However, Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani did not give permission for further discussion on the issue and asked Babar that he might raise his question in the National Assembly.
