ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The provinces have been put on a ‘threat alert’ by the National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC) for fear of attacks by Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
According to a private television channel, the cell has dispatched a letter to the home secretaries of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, provincial police chiefs and authorities in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In the letter, the cell claimed that terrorists are planning to conduct terrorist activities in the Punjab, most likely in Lahore.
The letter further said that recent terror attacks are meant to force the government to postpone hanging of jailed terrorist leaders and activists of LeJ and to secure their release or escape.
The cell has asked the authorities to beef up security as well as vigilance of listed buildings, public places, worship places to thwart indiscriminate aims of terrorists.
